Open IMPROV WORKSHOP: Marvellous Monoscenes (Ireland)
Monoscenes are improv scenes which take place in one location in real-time – that is, there are no sweeps or tag-outs, players either walk into the scene or walk out until the show is over. Long scenes can be intimidating, for the players and in them and the players waiting in the wings to enter. With the approach in this workshop we’ll demystify them and make them fun to be a part of.
In this session we’ll look at:
– The basic structure of a monoscene
– Character motivation and relationships
– Interacting with multiple players at the same time
– Overcoming the fear that keeps you off stage
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced improvisers – we’ll spend some time at the start of the session talking about approaches to scenework and acting in general.
Teacher: Paul Mone, he is a comedian, coach, and trainer based in Northern Ireland.
